Fosshotel Húsavík has been honored by the official quality and environmental system within the Icelandic tourist industry, Vakinn. The grading certification is controlled by the Icelandic Tourist Board with the main goal being to support environmental, sustainable and responsible tourism. Fosshotel Husavik now prides itself with three certified stars superior and bronse environmental certification. As of today, Íslandshotel now has 8 hotels operating under the Vakinn grading and environmental certifications in addition to its restaurants, the Beer Garden, Haust and Grand Restaurant.

Fosshotel Húsavík is located in a picturesque seaside town in North Iceland, Húsavík; known as Iceland‘s whale-watching paradise. The hotel features 110 standard and deluxe rooms designed to be warm, modern and simple. It has a new restaurant offering fine cuisine made from seasonal local ingredients and a cosy bar/bistro called Moby Dick.

The hotel has excellent conference services with eight conference and meeting rooms, suitable for meetings, incentives or any other good reason to a gathering. The largest conference room measures 345sq m and seats over 350 people. Fosshotel Húsavík offers numerous conference packages that can include dinner, lunch or afternoon refreshments, and it’s also the perfect location for weddings and other large events.

There are plenty of activities available in Húsavík and its surroundings, including whale-watching, sailing trips, fishing or sightseeing at the volcanic lake Mývatn, picturesque Ásbyrgi canyon or Dettifoss waterfall. Húsavík is a stunning winter destination, with many skiing areas to be found close by. Plans are in place to construct a geothermal sea bath where visitors can bathe in the warm sea lagoon with views of the bay.

Not only is Húsavík an excellent destination, but getting there is a breeze. There is a direct flight from Keflavik International Airport to nearby Akureyri or a domestic flight from Reykjavik, which takes just less then an hour.

Fosshótel Húsavík is a proud participant in the Vakinn environmental grading system which is based on a corresponding system with Qualmark in New Zealand and is according the quality control the European Hotelstars system. One of Vakinn´s objectives is to get a majority of Icelandic tourism providers to engage in environmental and social issues and obtain an official recognition for their contribution in these matters.
