This is the ultimate tour with suitable time spent at Iceland´s major nature spots. Explore dramatic landscapes and some of the world’s finest waterfalls like Gullfoss, Goðafoss and Skógarfoss. Visit erupting geysers in the great Geysir hot spring area and Þingvellir, a UNESCO world heritage site. Enjoy Vatnajökull glacier, Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and many other unique places.
Day 1: ARRIVAL IN ICELAND
Arrival in Iceland. If time allows, go for exploration walk around Reykjavík.
Overnight in Reykjavík in one of our 3-star-hotels.
Day 2: BORGARFJÖRÐUR AND THE SAGAS
Explore the scenic Whale fjord and the valley of Borgarfjörður with its waterfalls, hot springs and historic sites.
Spend the night in one of our hotels in West Iceland.
Day 3: SIGHTS OF NORTH WEST ICELAND
Up north: Visit Akureyri, the capital of North Iceland, and Goðafoss, the waterfall of the gods. Explore the sights at lake Mývatn.
Spend the night in one of our hotels in North Iceland.
Day 4: POWERFUL DETTIFOSS WATERFALL
Drive onto Tjörnes peninsula and visit Europe’s most powerful waterfall, Dettifoss (mid June to August). Heading east, you should pass through a large wasteland area.
Overnight in Fosshotel Eastfjords.
Day 5: EAST ICELAND AND VATNAJÖKULL GLACIER
Drive along the scenic fjords of east Iceland. Enjoy Vatnajökull glacier, Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon and Skaftafell National Park. Drive along the south coast and witness many natural wonders such as black lava beaches, waterfalls and glaciers.
Stay in Fosshotel Hekla or similar.
Day 6: GULLFOSS WATERFALL AND GEYSIR HOT SPRING
Your first stop should be at Þingvellir national park, a UNESCO world heritage site. The park rests in a valley created by the power of the apartdrifting tectonic plates. Keep on driving to Haukadalur hot spring area where you will see several hot springs, the most active being the geysir Strokkur, which erupts every 10 minutes. The next stop is the Gullfoss waterfall (golden waterfall). This waterfall falls in two cascades into a narrow and deep gorge. Further on at your trip will you visit the church and historical site of Skálholt before heading on to the volcanic crater Kerið. Overnight in Reykjavík in one of our 3-star hotels.
Day 7: DEPART FOR HOME
If time allows: Enjoy Reykjavík or explore the Reykjanes Peninsula with a stop at the famous Blue Lagoon for relaxation.
