Day 1: ARRIVAL IN ICELAND
Arrival in Iceland. If the time allows, take a stroll through Reykjavík. Overnight at Fosshotel Reykjavík in a room with a stunning view.
Day 2: BORGARFJÖRÐUR AND THE SAGAS
Explore the saga valley Borgarfjörður with its waterfalls, hot springs and historic sites. Spend the night the newly renovated Fosshotel Reykholt.
Day 3: SIGHTS OF NORTH WEST ICELAND
Drive to the north and stop at Glaumbær Turf farm for a journey through Icelandic history. Overnight two nights in an upgraded room in Fosshotel Húsavík or Fosshotel Myvatn.
Day 4: THE ALL POWERFUL DETTIFOSS WATERFALL
Head over to the town of Húsavík and visit the whale museum. Drive to the beautiful area of Ásbyrgi canyon after your visit to Húsavík and discover the wonders of north Iceland, such as Europe’s most powerful waterfall, Dettifoss (mid-June to August) and the beautiful Goðafoss, the waterfall of the gods.
Day 5: LAKE MÝVATN
The Lake Mývatn area is truly spectacular and not to be missed on your tour around Iceland. Spend the night at Fosshotel Eastfjords.
Day 6: THE FJORDS OF EAST ICELAND
Today you will drive along the scenic fjords of East Iceland. Stop in Stöðvarfjörður to visit the famous stone collection. Stop in Höfn and enjoy the cozy atmosphere in this old fishing town. Stay 2 nights in Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon.
Day 7: GLACIAL LAKE AND NATURAL WONDERS
Drive to Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and enjoy a boat tour in the lagoon. Proceed to cape Ingólfshöfði, where you might spot puffins. A glacier walk in Skaftafell is recommended for those who want to discover something really special.
Day 8: THE SOUTH COAST
On your journey along the south coast, you will travel along Europe´s largest glacier, Vatnajökull glacier. Stop at Skaftafell National Park for further information about the glacier area and guided tours. Continue on driving along the south coast and witness all that South Iceland has to offer, such as a black lava beaches, waterfalls and even more glaciers. Overnight in upgraded rooms in Selfoss area.
Day 9: GULLFOSS WATERFALL AND GEYSIR HOT SPRING AREA
Visit Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir hot spring area in Haukadalur and Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site. Spend the last two nights at Fosshotel Reykjavík.
Day 10: REYKJAVÍK CAPITAL REGION AND REYKJANES PENINSULA
Enjoy your last day in Reykjavík. Go downtown for souvenir shopping, art galleries, restaurants etc. and experience the culture Reykjavík has to offer. The Reykjanes peninsula is well worth exploring. The famous Blue Lagoon, Gunnuhver or Krýsuvík hot spring areas and Keilir mountain. The picturesque surroundings around lake Kleifarvatn are not to be missed. You don´t want to miss the chance to cross between the two continents of Europe and North America on the bridge between continents.
Day 11: DEPART FOR HOME
If time allows, head to central Reykjavík and shop for the last souvenirs before heading home. Enjoy a coffee/tea in one of the cities restaurants or cafés.
