The Western part of Iceland is a spectacular area. Snæfellsnes peninsula is famous for its glacier, Snæfellsjökull mentioned by Jules Verne in his novel "Journey to the Center of the Earth" and the countless islands in the Breiðafjörður bay with its colourful bird and sea life. The area has an interesting folklore and tales of adventure as many of the Icelandic sagas took place in the area. Our remotly located hotels will offer the best options to see northern light in the nights.
Day 1: ARRIVAL IN ICELAND
Arrival in Iceland. If time allows, go for an exploration walk around Reykjavík. Book an optional Northern lights tour at your hotel.
Overnight in Reykjavík in one of our 3-star hotels.
Day 2: WHALE FJORD AND SAGA VALLEY
Explore the scenic Whale fjord and the valley of Borgarfjörður. Stop at Europe´s most powerful hot spring, Deildartunguhver.
Spend 2 nights in the Borgarfjörður area at one of our hotels in West Iceland.
Day 3: HUSAFELL AND HRAUNFOSSAR
Spend the day at Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls, known for their stunning natural beauty. Proceed onwards to Húsafell area and go for a hike in the amazing landscape. From Húsafell the tours to the man made Ice Cave are starting. Enjoy a unique experience in the Langjökull glacier.
Day 4: SETTLEMENT CENTER IN BORGARNES
Travel back to Reykjavík. Make a pit stop in Borgarnes and visit the popular Saga Settlement Centre.
Overnight two nights in Reykjavík in one of our 3-star hotels..
Day 5: REYKJANES PENINSULA
Continue your exploration of south Iceland on the Reykjanes Peninsula and stop at the famous Blue Lagoon. The geothermal areas Gunnuhver and Krýsuvík on the peninsula are well worth the visit as well as the picturesque Kleifarvatn lake. You don´t want to miss the chance to cross between the two continents of Europe and North America on the bridge between continents.
Day 7: DEPART FOR HOME
If time allows: Enjoy Reykjavík or explore the Reykjanes Peninsula with a stop at the famous Blue Lagoon for relaxation.
