Day 1: ARRIVAL IN ICELAND
Arrival in Iceland. If time allows, go for a exploration walk around Reykjavík.
Overnight in Reykjavík in one of our 3-star-hotels.
Day 2: BORGARFJÖRÐUR
Head west and explore the saga valley Borgarfjörður with its waterfalls, hot springs and historic sites.
Spend 1 night in the Borgarfjörður area at Fosshotel Reykholt.
Day 3: SKAGAFJORÐUR AND GLAUMBÆR TURF FARM
Travel north and make a stop at Skagafjörður, the valley of horses and home of Glaumbær turf farm. The innumerable hills at Vatnsdalshólar are not to be missed on your way north.
Overnight for 6 nights in our hotels in North Iceland.
Day 4: TRÖLLASKAGI PENINSULA
Visit the small villages Siglufjörður and Hofsós on Tröllaskagi peninsula and get ready to be impressed by the surrounding mountains and deep valleys.
Day 5: THE ARCTIC CIRCLE ON GRIMSEY
Take a trip to the northernmost part of Iceland, the small island of Grímsey, which lies on the arctic circle.
Day 6: TJÖRNES PENINSULA WITH DETTIFOSS AND ÁSBYRGI
Drive over the Tjörnes peninsula and stop at the canyon Ásbyrgi and the powerful waterfall Dettifoss. Take your time to discover the wonders of Jökulsárgljúfur National park.
Day 7: HIKING IN THE MÝVATN REGION
The unique landscape surrounding the Mývatn area makes it a perfect spot for hiking. What better way to relax after the hike than to enjoy the Mývatn natural baths. Also worth a visit are the pseudocrates at Skútustaðir and the enormous hot spring area of Námaskarð.
Day 8: DAYBREAK AT HÚSAVÍK OR ASKJA VOLCANO
Visit the small town of Husavík with its different museums and enjoy a whale watching tour originating from the harbour. Another option would be to join a guided daytour to the Askja volcano which will be an unforgettable adventure driving through the rough highland to this unique place.
Day 9: VISIT CENTRAL ICELAND
In summertime (mid June to end August) you´ll have the option to drive via the highland road number 35, the so-called Kjölur route, which is well known for its rough unforgettable scenery. If you choose to drive road number 35, you will overnight in Fosshotel Hekla.
If you drive via the main road, you can explore the Bifröst area and the former Grábrók volcano.
Overnight in Fosshotel Reykholt.
Day 10: GEYSIR HOT SPRING AREA AND ÞINGVELLIR NATIONAL PARK
Head back to Reykjavík and take the so-called golden circle route which will take you past the golden waterfall, Gullfoss, the well known Geysir hot spring area in Haukadalur and Thingvellir, a UNESCO world heritage site.
Overnight in Reykjavík in one of our 3-star-hotels.
Day 11: DEPART FOR HOME
If time allows: Enjoy Reykjavík, or explore the Reykjanes peninsula with a stop at the famous Blue Lagoon for relaxation.
