Rates are based on full prepayment. The payment is due one month before first arrival date in Iceland. Íslandshótel Self Drive will charge automaticly the credit card provided by the guest, if nothing else is agreed on forehand.
Íslandshótel accepts the following credit cards; VISA, MASTER/EUROCARD, AMEX AND DINERS CLUB.
Full payment must have been received one month prior to arrival. Payment can be made via our bank account (account number upon request) or credit card.
We reserve the right to cancel any part - or the entire tour arrangements - if the deposit and/or balances are not paid at the first check in date of the tour. Any unauthorized deductions from invoices or late payments may also result in an automatic cancellation. Cancellation fees are as per our cancellation policy below. All cancellation fees are due immediately after receipt of the appropriate invoice and may be deducted from the deposit / balance already received.
Should you need to cancel your tour, you must notify Íslandshótel directly in writing. Your cancellation will only become valid once Íslandshótel has confirmed cancellation in writing.

Change of reservation
Once a reservation is confirmed, any changes to a tour (e.g. date, tour, accomodation) are subject to a fee.
All change requests must be made in writing from the person who submitted the booking. An administration fee of 15% for each day/night will be charged to the original booking if the itinerary has been modified. If changes are requested within 14 days of the date the confirmation has been received, there is no additional fee cost.
It is occasionally necessary for Íslandshótel Self Drive to make changes to the tours due to availabilty. Íslandshótel Self Drive reserves the right to make such changes and send a notification until 1 week prior to arrival about the changes.
The final hotel list is sent to you by email along with the vouchers and detailed itinerary 3-4 weeks prior to arrival once the payment has been received. Please check the voucher when received to assure that they are correct according to the last confirmation.
Please hand in the appropriate voucher at each subsequent hotel.
Íslandshótel reserves the right to change accommodation with short notice based on availability.
If vouchers and travel documents are asked to be delivered to a hotel, a surcharge of 25 EUR applies per booking.
Íslandshótels, or similar, are minimum 3-star hotels.
All rooms are either double/twin or single. Triple rooms are double rooms with an extra bed, and therefore only recommended for 2 adults + 1 child, NOT 3 adults. All confirmed rooms will offer private bathroom.
Infants stay free of charge and cots are free of charge.
Children 3 to 5 years old stay free of charge when using existing beds.
Free complimentary breakfast included.
Children in separate rooms pay adult price.
Children under 12 years of age get 50% discount from Half Board rates.
Íslandshótel offer free parking with the Self Drive packages. The parking spaces at Fosshotel Lind, Fosshotel Baron and Fosshotel Rauðará are limited. There is no free parking available at Fosshotel Reykjavík and Hotel Reykjavík Centrum.
Rates are EUR and per room (not per person). Stay over different periods: Package rate are calculated on each day/night. i.e a 7 night tour from 29.05 pays 3 nights shoulder season rate, 4 nights high season rate.
No further commissions given. All rates include breakfast, VAT (11%) and all other local taxes.
Rates are SUBJECT TO CHANGE due to possible inflation, VAT change, taxes and exchange rate.
Wireless Internet is available in most of the hotels. Wireless Internet is free of charge to Íslandshótel Self Drive guests.
Accommodation and breakfast for the number of nights stated in each tour and WiFi access.
Rental car, domestic flights, ferries, boat trips, roadmaps, guidebooks and entrance fees.
The price for the half board option is additional per person for the whole tour. The dinner is a 2 or 3 course menu. Changes in the menu must be requested up to a week before first arrival date.
The kitchen of the restaurants will be closed from 10:00 pm during the summer. We advise all guests to call the hotels in advance if late check-in is expected.
A detailed travel itinerary, in ENGLISH ONLY, is included in all official “Self Drive Tours”. Itineraries will be sent to you by email with the vouchers. For tailor-made or redesigned tours, no itinerary will be sent.
Please note that Self Drive Tours do not include rental cars.
Satisfaction / complaints
Íslandshótel will do their absolute best to make your stay in Iceland is an enjoyable one. However, if you find anything unsatisfactory during your hotel stay, please inform the hotel’s front desk staff immediately so that the problem can be rectified. We can not make any adjustments or give concessions once the entire tour has been completed if dissatisfaction has not immediately been registered during the stay itself.
Íslandshótel wil not be held responsible for these unreported incidents hence no reimbursements of any kind may be requested.
It is very important to keep in mind that Icelandic road conditions can never be compared with those in Europe or USA. Please drive carefully, especially on gravel roads. Check more information about driving in Iceland. Always pay close attention to warnings signs regarding weather and road conditions. We recommend to check daily the weather forcast in Iceland (in English).
Before you cross non-bridged rivers, always make sure you know how strong the current is and how deep the water is. Do not cross a river unless another car is in sight and could assist in case of an emergency. Please note: Off road driving is strictly forbidden in Iceland. You can except to be fined if off road driving occurs.
Our itineraries are only suggestions but not a full or a detailed list of sights to be seen on each day. Please note that it might not be possible to visit all mentioned sights at all times of the year. For example, very few or no whales at all can be seen in North Iceland during wintertime. We recommend the use of a good guidebook while travelling around Iceland.
Notwithstanding anything else herein contained to the contrary, Íslandshótel cannot be held liable for delays or cancellations that are caused by events that are beyond its reasonable control, including, but not limited to, acts of civil or military authority, acts of terrorism, insurrections, peace or army action, civil commotion, demonstrations, natural disasters, etc.
