OVERVIEW

In this tour you will see the most popular places in east IcelandStarting with a drive along the scenic south coast to the east, you will be able to see the magnificent waterfalls, the largest glacier in Europe, Vatnajökull, and you might even spot the legendary aquatic monster- giant worm that is said to live in the Lagarfljót river. You will also have the chance to visit Petra’s Stone collection.

  • Day 1: ARRIVAL IN ICELAND
    Arrival in Iceland. If time allows, go for an exploration walk around Reykjavík.
    Overnight in Reykjavík in one of our 3-star-hotels.

  • DAY 2: ICELAND´S SOUTH COAST
    Travel along the southern coast of Icleand on the main road. Stop at Seljalandsfoss waterfoss (it is possible to walk behind the waterfall) at the edge of the worlds famous Eyjafjallajökull glacier, famous for it´s 2010 volcanic eruption which grounded 10.000 flights all around Europe. Stop in the town of Vík and go for a walk on the black sand beach.
    Overnight in one of our hotels in Vatnajökull region.

  • DAY 3: HÖFN AND THE EAST FJORDS
    Drive east along the mighty glacier Vatnajökull. Stop at Jökulsár glacier lagoon and witness one of Iceland´s most magnificent natural wonders. Visit the small fishing village of Höfn before proceeding further east where you will drive along the scenic east fjords.
    Stay three nights in Fosshotel Eastfjords.

  • DAY 4: LAGARFLJÓT RIVER AND HALLORMSSTAÐUR
    Spend a whole day discovering east Iceland. Travel along the coastline of the Lagarfljót river and stop in Hallormsstaður, where Iceland’s largest forest is located.
    See the magnificent waterfall Hengifoss.

  • DAY 5: BORGARFJORDUR AND THE PUFFIN
    A day tour is available to visit the northernmost fjord of the Eastfjords, Borgarfjörður famous for its large puffin population. Before returning to the hotel, you must visit Álfaborg (a uniquely shaped rock castle) where the queen elves is believed to dwell.

  • DAY 6: PETRA´S STONE AND MINERAL COLLECTION
    Today you travel back to the town of Höfn. Take your time to enjoy the stunning east fjords and their unforgettable scenery. On your way to Höfn, stop in Stöðvarfjörður to visit Petra’s Stone collection, a large collection of icelandic stones.
    Overnight in one of our hotels in Vatnajökull region.

  • Day 7: WONDERS OF SOUTH ICELAND
    Drive along the south coast and witness many natural wonders such a black lava beaches, waterfalls and glaciers.
    Stay in Fosshotel Hekla or similar.

  • Day 8: GULLFOSS WATERFALL AND GEYSIR HOT SPRING AREA
    Visit Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir hot spring area in Haukadalur and Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site.
    Overnight two nights in Reykjavík in one of our 3-star hotels.

  • Day 9: REYKJANES PENINSULA AND REYKJAVÍK
    If you´re keen on further exploration before heading home, the Reykjanes peninsula has plenty to see, such as the Blue Lagoon, Gunnuhver or Krýsuvík hot spring areas and Keilir mountain. The picturesque surroundings around lake Kleifarvatn are not to be missed. You don´t want to miss the chance to cross between the two continents of Europe and North America on the bridge between continents.

  • DAY 10: DEPART FOR HOME
    If time allows: Enjoy Reykjavík or explore the Reykjanes Peninsula with a stop at the famous Blue Lagoon for relaxtion.
