Hotel Reykjavík Saga

Hotel Reykjavík Saga

Hotel Reykjavík Saga lies at the heart of Iceland’s capital near fantastic downtown shops and restaurants.

This elegant 4-star spa hotel is situated close to prominent landmarks in the city, such as the picturesque Lake Tjörnin, Reykjavík Art Museum, and the cathedral, as well as fantastic downtown shops and restaurants. This makes it an excellent place to stay in the city from a different point of view.

Our boutique hotel with a spa is located on Lækjargata, a historic street in the centre of Reykjavík, and has been designed with full respect to the surrounding buildings in a modern style that reflects Icelandic tradition. Every aspect of its location and environment has been meticulously considered, making it a remarkable downtown stay in Iceland's capital.

The excellent Fröken Reykjavík Kitchen & Bar is based within the Saga Hotel. Fröken’s prime location is only one of the things that will make your stay at this boutique hotel unique. You get to watch the chefs prepare Icelandic delicacies in real time using quality ingredients sourced locally.

We are also happy to offer spa and fitness studio services, featuring a gym, steam bath, dry sauna, and two large roof terraces. It also offers convenient access for coach drop-offs and pick-ups at the entrance for exploring further afield.

As of August 2024, all of our hotels have received Green Key certification from FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education), making us the first fully sustainability-certified hotel chain in Iceland.

The Northern Lights

One of the biggest draws to Iceland is the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, a striking natural phenomenon that causes the sky to light up with streaks of dancing colors. The best time to see the Northern Lights in Iceland is between September and April on a dark and cloudless night. You’ll want to escape from the light pollution of Reykjavik but tours can easily be arranged from the city.

The Golden Circle

A popular sightseeing route within easy reach of Reykjavík is Iceland’s Golden Circle, a tour of some of the best attractions in the southwest of the country. Famous sights such as the historical Þingvellir National Park, the awe-inspiring Geysir Geothermal Area and the mighty Gullfoss waterfall are all situated on this route - none are further than a two-hour drive from the capital.

Whale-watching

There’s no better place to book a whale-watching tour than Reykjavík; boats leave daily from the old harbor, just minutes from the center. The main types of whales that are usually spotted in Faxaflói Bay are minke whales, white-beaked dolphins, humpback whales and harbor porpoises - sightings of these majestic creatures are most likely during the summer months.
