Events and Activities at Klambratún Park

Klambratún is more than just a peaceful green place, it’s an important location hosting various local events, outdoor activities and cultural experiences throughout the year. Thanks to its large open spaces and close proximity to the centre of the city, it’s the perfect location! While every year the calendar of events changes, there are several types of events and activities you can expect to see here.

Local Festivals and Cultural Events

During the warmer season, Klambratún transforms into a hub for community festivals, outdoor musical events and art displays. It’s not uncommon to be able to enjoy free music events, open-air markets and cultural events. You can also catch events in June for Icelandic National Day!

Outdoor Fitness and Yoga Classes

Another popular sight during the summer in Klambratún Park is fitness and yoga classes. Icelanders love to keep fit, so why not join in? You’ll see groups gathering for outdoor yoga, fitness boot camps and more, which are all open to visitors. Check local listings or speak to reception at your hotel to find out more about classes occurring during your stay.

Arts and Creative Events

Given the park's close location and connection to the Kjarvalsstaðir Art Museum, it should come as no surprise that creativity is woven into the park’s personality. From time to time, the museum even puts on art installations or sculpture trails in the park!

Family-Friendly Activities

Like all parks, Klambratún is perfect for families. The playgrounds are well-equipped and spark imagination, offering slides, swings, climbing frames and more. There’s even a rock climbing structure for older children (or children trapped inside adult bodies!) that can be enjoyed. There is also a 14-hole UDisc Golf course that visitors can enjoy.
