Hotel Reykjavík Centrum

Hotel Reykjavík Centrum stands in the bustling city center within walking distance of museums, restaurants and bars.

Nestled in the bustling city centre, Hotel Reykjavík Centrum is just a stone’s throw away from some of the most prominent museums, restaurants, and bars in the Icelandic capital.

With an abundance of parks and green spaces nearby, there's plenty to do around this central Reykjavik hotel. Whether you're an art enthusiast, a history buff, or someone who loves great food and lively nightlife, Hotel Reykjavík Centrum is just steps away from the action.

Even in the bustling epicentre of the city, Hotel Reykjavík Centrum does not compromise on style. Nestled on Aðalstræti, one of the city's oldest streets, this romantic hotel occupies a newly refurbished building, with its oldest part dating back to 1764. New buildings on either side replicate the historic charm of Fjalakötturinn and Uppsalir.

A short walk will take you to the Grand Reykjavík Cathedral, Reykjavík City Hall, and other captivating landmarks. Take a stroll along the edge of Lake Tjörnin or through any of central Reykjavík’s parks and escape from the urban hustle. Once you’re keen to grab a bite, there’s a host of outstanding restaurants nearby to indulge in whatever cuisine you desire.

As of August 2024, all of our hotels have received Green Key certification from FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education), making us the first fully sustainability-certified hotel chain in Iceland.

Top 3 Things to Do in Reykjavík

Luciana Moço and Fellipe Moço

The Northern Lights

One of the biggest draws to Iceland is the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, a striking natural phenomenon that causes the sky to light up with streaks of dancing colours. The best time to see the Northern Lights in Iceland is between September and April on a dark and cloudless night. You’ll want to escape from the light pollution of Reykjavik but tours can easily be arranged from the city.

The Golden Circle

A popular sightseeing route within easy reach of Reykjavík is Iceland’s Golden Circle, a tour of some of the best attractions in the southwest of the country. Famous sights such as the historical Þingvellir National Park, the awe-inspiring Geysir Geothermal Area, and the mighty Gullfoss waterfall are all situated on this route - none are further than a two-hour drive from the capital.

Whale-watching

There’s no better place to book a whale-watching tour than Reykjavík; boats leave daily from the old harbour, just minutes from the centre. The main types of whales that are usually spotted in Faxaflói Bay are minke whales, white-beaked dolphins, humpback whales, and harbour porpoises - sightings of these majestic creatures are most likely during the summer months.
